Sacrilegious Theft of Hosts in Ferrara: "I Have Lost My Peace in These Hours"

(Rome) Archbishop Luigi Negri of Ferrara had to announce the serious news to the faithful gathered in the cathedral last Sunday: "From a church of our diocese, a chalice with many consecrated hosts was stolen. During these hours I have lost peace." [When sacrileges like this occur stateside, you never hear the local ordinary lamenting them.  It's usually ho-hum time for them.]

"Whoever removes the body of Christ from the tabernacle is capable of all things"

At present, the offender (s) are still unknown. Archbishop Negri is one of the most prestigious bishops in Italy. He was the target of an orchestrated campaign throughout Italy in the fall of 2011, alleging that he wanted "the death of Pope Francis". He could not be pushed out of office, which was probably the goal. Still, he has become somewhat quieter. Such slanderous attacks leave scars.
For the time being, "the worst" was to be expected, the archbishop said. He who breaks a tabernacle, and lays hands on the body of Christ, "is capable of all things."
"It is a great pain that hurts the heart and aggrieves. In those hours I have lost peace. "
He said of the man who had committed this sacrilege, repeating the words of Jesus: "It would be better if he had never been born (Mt 26:25)." At the same time, the Archbishop called on the perpetrator (s) to return the consecrated Hosts promptly and undamaged.
The sacrilegious robbery took place in the church of Santa Chiara, the former Capuchin convent of Ferrara. In this and other churches of the diocese, there have been at this time an overflowing of atonement and reparation. Archbishop Negri recalled that "there is nothing more precious in the world and in the Holy Church of God than the Holy Eucharist, in which the body, the blood, the soul, and the divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ are truly present."

Atonement and reparation in the entire archdiocese

The archbishop ordered, even on Sunday, "that in all the parishes and religious houses, and to the extent possible in the ecclesial associations and movements, at least one Mass of restitution celebrating according to the Roman p form Pro remissione omnium peccatorum." In addition, a Mass of reparation will be celebrated in Santa Chiara next Saturday, in which the whole diocesan community should participate. The Archbishop himself will celebrate the Holy Mass. Afterwards, a Eucharistic procession will take place through the city.
The Archbishop asked this week to emphasize specifically Eucharistic worship in catechesis, and to promote all occasions of encounter with the Eucharistic Lord.

Tomb of the Atonement Veronica of the Most Blessed Sacrament

The Capuchins had come to Ferrara in 1609, where, thanks to their benefactors, they built the church in honor of the Saint Clare of Assisi. During Napoleonic despotism, their monastery was abolished in 1810, but they were able to return as early as 1817 and re-establish the cloister. In 1987, the convent left the city and moved to San Giovanni Rotondo, where, near the tomb of Saint Capuchin Padre Pio, it moved into a new monastery. In 2012, the church of Santa Chiara was so badly affected by an earthquake that it had to be closed for two years for backup and restoration work.
In the church is the tomb of the Capuchin Veronica of the Blessed Sacrament (1896-1964), whose beatification process was opened in 2015 by Archbishop Negri. She is regarded as a master of the spiritual life who could penetrate deeply into the sufferings of Christ, and even became a part of His mystical suffering as an atonement. She recalled "the importance of a holy life in the struggle of everyone against evil," Archbishop Negri told Archdiocese.
The grave of Sr. Veronica is often visited by the faithful people of Ferrara, and the Order's patroness is called upon to intercede.

Possumus et Non Possumus- Sermon of Archbishop Luigi Negri in St. Peter's

(Rome) The highlight of the 4th International Pilgrimage Summorum Pontificum was  the Pontifical Mass in the Immemorial Mass of All Ages at the grave of the apostle Peter  in St. Peter's Basilica. The celebrant was Bishop Juan Rodolfo Laise OFMCap, Emeritus of San Luis in Argentina. The sermon was by Msgr. Luigi Negri, Archbishop of Ferrara-Comacchio and Titular Prelate of Pomposa. The Archbishop of Ferrara belongs, because of his clear language,  authentic style and his willingness not to play favorites is one of the exceptional personalities in the European episcopate. His episcopal chair was therefore sawed violently last with sharp shots, as it was assumed that he wished for the imminent death of Pope Francis.
In his speech without notes, he went to the twofold position of the Church in its evangelizing mission to humanity. It  should be seized by what it's received, and Christianize. It must at the same time keep away from  worldliness and resolutely reject what is contrary to the teachings of Christ, however.
As Archbishop Negri held his sermon, found a few meters away, there  was great anxiety about the vote on the final report of the Family Synod. The Synod Fathers also included Cardinal Carlo Caffarra who originally should have given the sermon, which was then given by  Archbishop Ferrara  because of the scheduling conflict.
IV. International Pilgrimage Summorum Pontificum ad Petri Sedem

Homily of Msgr. Luigi Negri

Archbishop of Ferrara-Comacchio
St. Peter's Basilica
Saturday, October 24, 2015
Praised be Jesus Christ
forever, Amen.
The Gospel reading of today's liturgy recalls the great expectation of the salvation of all mankind, to the expectation of the poor, the humble and the distressed. This expectation is like the circles that are drawn in the water when suddenly something is thrown in, because anyone can enter the water and participate in such a manner in the newness of life, which is identified with the Messiah of Israel.
There we have it! The expectation was fulfilled! The wait is over, because the coming of Christ has torn the heavens for all time, and he has entered into history - with all its greatness and all its miseries, with all its limitations and all its temptations, but - in the totality of history even with the immense capacity of the human being, from  generation to generation, to responsibly confront the problem of the destiny of his life and the goal with which he is called to rediscover it: the kingdom of God, which is already among us.
Christ is the new life in our midst: life is fully realized in Him, in the mystery of His death and resurrection and His ascension, a secret that was all communicated in the depth of our faith and revealed in the strength of our love.
It is the new life, because there is only one salvation. It is a new extension of the intelligence and of the heart, towards themselves,  others and the whole reality expressing itself in a new sensibility. This new humanity is in us as a grace, as a gift of faith, as undeserved truth that is offered to us generously in response to the great expectancy that moves our being.
Given this grace we can not be complacent and indulge in a fatalism that is not Christian. We must assume our responsibilities, that grace - the principle of new life within us, a seat of the new life in us - can mature in our humanity, penetrate it and unfold, but especially that by it unfolding in our humanity to principle of mission, we can communicate. Faith is given to us so that we can share it.
In Redemptoris Missio St.John Paul II. explained that the faith is strengthened by giving. The gratitude for the grace that was given to us, in the depths of our consciousness and in our daily lives is the intention to contribute to the great mission of Christ and the Church. A task that we should cooperate in with all our strength, in whichever areas of everyday life and whatsoever circumstances we will find ourselves, and at whatever place and in whatever capacity.
The Christian people has a great calling:  to communicate Christ in the new life every human being, so that every person is grasped by this grace and he in turn can learn this newness. The Christian responsibility is therefore, mission. It is the great and extraordinary lesson of the Church in its two thousand year history, often achieved with difficulty, often marked by numerous imperfections, but also by a lot of glory.
The Church is the inexhaustible presence of Christ's life, which is offered to all, even those who sometimes do not even want it, but who are excited by our presence as a witness, to look to Christ, perhaps for the first time in a world in which we live, who is so far from the presence of the Lord.
This mission has its identity and morality expressed in two great words that could and had to be pronounced by the Church in Its history: The first word is POSSUMUS.
In this word, in this posture the Church encountered mankind from generation to generation. The faith is encountered in reason, Christian freedom is encountered in human law. The things of the life of peoples and nations were inculturated to the Catholic faith, and more than once, this Catholic faith has made a decisive contribution to the expression to the forms of civilizations and cultures.
The Church and the world  encounter in POUSSUMUS. Seeking humanity has met with the Church that proclaims the God Who reveals himself. The human, personal and social existence, the great history of culture and civilization gets its meaning by the great Catholic culture that is not yet over and speaks to us through the various cultural expressions. Mission has had the great ability in the horizon of possumus to make a significant contribution to the growth of the personal and social human life.
The Church could and yet had to inevitably say another word: This second word is NON  POSSUMUS.
The Church had said on many occasions that it is not allowed to supplant the Church's presence in the life of society, to suppress the rights of God, to extinguish the rights of the Church and thus inevitably to the degradation of humanity, of its contribution the human and social life. NON POSSUMUS. There has never been a  moment in history, no matter how dramatic it may have been, especially in western Europe, where the Church often as  not sometimes stood alone, took up Its responsibility and has denied the legality of certain ideologies, the legitimacy of certain cultural, social has denied and political requirements.
The Church has excluded itself in its NON POSSUMUS   dialogue with the people, but denies that the ideologies may impact on their lives. The Church opposes them because they discourage and damage people, because they are directed against the mystery of life and to the mystery of love. The sanctity of fatherhood and motherhood, the most significant events in human life are overturned, smashed and replaced by completely unacceptable forms of personal, family or social life.
The Church will never only say POSSUMUS, just as She could  never only be able to say NON  POSSUMUS.  She must make in Her missionary responsibility, the encounter between Christ and the hearts of people possible, She must know how to find the right rhythm for the openings and closures, for the intellectual and moral acceptance and the rejection of all that the right hand of God contradicts.  Because by acting against the rights of God, it creates the preconditions for a decline, for a dehumanization of the human and social life. Especially it makes the society in which the Church lives a terrible experience.
Therefore, woe to us brothers, if we therefore replace the binomial POSSUMUS - NON POSSUMUS by a unilateral POSSUMUS that delivers Christendom to the prevailing mentality that makes the goal even of our lives, that which is sought by the world in its negative and diabolical objectives: the elimination of Christ and the Church. We can not accept the all too many events, initiatives and experiments are strongly marked by this well-intended Catholic world, which desires to please the world and to gain its support or applause. [See the Professional Catholics employed by various organs of the establishment.]
We want to see the face of Christ. This face of Christ lights below us in the beauty of the liturgy, and it leads us to the final glory of His countenance. The face, which is both Judge and Savior. We just want to direct our hearts and intelligence every day on the much beloved face of the Lord. For from Him will be born in us and in the world, a new intelligence. A new heart that makes  us love all men, which comes as part of the mystery of Himself to us revealing Christ to the world. That makes us feel the usefulness of our time and our lives solely to confirm Christ and not as confirmation of our strength and power. That's what we want.
Do we trust the Holy Church of God, the Virgin Mary, so that with the joy that comes from faith, we can also carry the burden of sacrifice of our daily lives - the life of the whole Church as well as the life of every one of us - so that the binomial is inseparable, which seems impossible to the mentality of the world: joy and sacrifice.
So be it.

Campaign Against Archbishop Luigi Negri: "He Wished the Death of Pope Francis"

Archbishop Negri of Ferrara
(Rome) Archbishop Luigi Negri of Ferrara-Comacchio in Italian Romagna is one of the most prominent episcopal figures in Europe. That Archbishop Negri is not particularly happy with the line of Pope Francis, is no secret. Now, however, there  is   a frontal attack sawing at the bishop's chair of the inconvenient admonisher.

Tabloid Launches  Attack "for Pope Francis'

The left tabloid Il Fatto Quotidiano (FQ) launched a frontal attack two days before  against Archbishop Negri. The thrust is similar to that of the journalist Gianluigi Nuzzi, who now has to answer  for  Vatileaks II scandal because of his appropriation and disclosure of confidential Vatican documents to the court itself. His book "Via Crucis," he claims to have written, "to help Pope Francis".
Similarly now Il Fatto Quotidiano argues. The anti-clerical newspaper pretends to rush to the aid of Pope Francis, against the dishonorable (Nuzzi) and prelates who are enemies of the Pope (Fatto Quotidiano).
According to FQ, Archbishop Negri wishes for the death of Pope Francis. The headline on the front page read: "Francis Must Meet the Same End as Any Other Pope".

Wiretapped Conversation on the Train?

FQ reported on a conversation between the Archbishop and his secretary, the other, unnamed, random "passengers" must  have overheard it during a train journey on 28 October. Archbishop Negri is said to have said to his secretary: "Let us hope that the Virgin helps Bergoglio with the same miracle as the other."   The "other,"  Archbishop Negri did not say, but FQ is claiming he meant Pope John Paul I  who was only Pope for 33 days  in 1978, before he died of a heart attack.
The unexpected death of Albino Luciani from  the long-standing heart disease, left numerous conspiracy theories run wild, but none of them could be proved.
Il Fatto Quotidiano concluded from an overheard conversation that Archbishop Negri also wishes the reigning Pope a quick death.
The newspaper also presented a criticism of Msgr. Negri on the recent appointment of bishops recently. Negri did, says FQ, criticize in a telephone conversation with the journalist Renato Farina, from the daily newspaper Libero, the appointment of Matteo Zuppi and Corrado Lorefice as archbishops of Bologna and Palermo. Negri is supposed to have said: "After the appointment of Bologna and Palermo even I could be Pope. This is an outrage. Incredible.  I'm lost for words. This is something I've never seen."
Farina has denied since, ever having had such a telephone conversation with Archbishop Negri, and has announced legal action against Fatto Quotidiano.

Archbishop Negri: "Injured my Dignity as a Man and as a Church Representative"

Archbishop Negri turned yesterday with a declaration of his diocese. The FQ-products have "seriously injuried my dignity  as a person and as a church representative, but also the dignity of the Church." The newspaper had disregarded the most elementary rules of journalism, "and attributed to me in quotes, statements that I never made, and took others out of context in order to turn it into the opposite of what I said." The Fatto Quotidiano has "made a supposition by a journalist into a certainty."
Because of his clear stance on Catholic doctrine, his unflinching rejection of Freemasonry and his strong words, which distinguish him from other bishops, Archbishop Negri has suffered from opponents who are not only outside the Church.  Currently, everything is focused against his person, from the spite of anti-ecclesiastical circles outside and progressive circles within the Church and whom they brand  as "anti-francistic" by emphasizing a real or perceived contrast and  place themselves behind the Pope.

Negri Embodies Everything Currently Considered Ecclesiastically "Out"

Archbishop Negri is considered traditional, which means that he is decried in some Italian church circles as a "traditionalist". He repeatedly criticized the progressive advances of wanting to overturn the Sacrament of Marriage through Communion for divorced and remarried. Equally clearly, he raised his voice against  "gay marriage" and the gender ideology. In his archdiocese he stepped fearlessly into conflict with politicians and mayors who wanted to set up registers for gay couples at the registry offices. Because of his belonging to the community of Communion and Liberation (CL), he is considered by the political left as standing in the center-right camp, in which the known CL representatives, like the longtime head of government of Lombardy, Roberto Formigoni, holds positions.  It's a  direction that was, incidentally,  true for the minority of  CL members. This is also a result of the current pontificate. The new CL-majority wants to be close to Pope Francis. That explains why CL hastened after the FQ-story  to  distance itself from Archbishop Negri  and call on him in a gruff tone, "to clarify his statements."

Calls for "Resignation"?

"Why Il Fatto Quotidiano attacks Archbishop Negri is not difficult to understand. He is the figurehead of a Church, which currently has a tough time against the new church of Pope Francis, who applauds progressives and the careerists in the Church and the secular media," says IntelligoNews. It appears doubtful that the Archbishop could have publicly said those things in a train among numerous passengers. "Is FQ  in possession of  recordings of illegally wiretapped telephone conversations or has an unfaithful employee of Negri's brought something against him? We do not know.  Among the many issues surrounding the FQ-story,  there is yet one that is "perhaps the most disturbing: Is it permissible to criticize Pope Francis, without running the risk of being spied upon, popped on the cover and brought to the public  pillory? Or is it perhaps as Negri says,  that behind this is  just another example of a theological hatred of the Church?" said IntelligoNews.
Just how serious are the opponents of Archbishop Negri, is  shown even more in media reports by La Repubblica, flagship of the left-wing press in Italy and only newspaper that Pope Francis reads daily, headlined: "The Shocking Statement of the Bishop of Ferrara". The daily La Nuova Ferrara, which appears in  Negri's See, wrote: "The Resignation is in the Air".
That seems to be the real target of the action.  Archbishop Negri is unlikely to emerge undamaged from this campaign.

The Diocese of Padua Prohibit Initiatives Against Gender Ideology (Which apparently doesn't exist)

Event Hall of the University of Padua--
For the Diocese, gennder ideologie
nor a gender theory.
(Padua) Are there any Catholic diocese who like the gender ideology? That sounds incredible, but it seems to apply to the northern Italian diocese of Padua.
The fact that the gender issue will be perceived differently by other  dioceses has been apparent at least since last June, otherwise all dioceses had supported  Family Day  "Hands Off Our Children"  on June 20th on Piazza San Giovanni in Rome. And all dioceses have supported the Italian Veilleurs,  called the Sentinelle in Piedi (Sentinels on Guard), protesting against the disintegration of the family by genderisation, particularly aberrosexualization, silently in front of government buildings.

Family Day and weak support from dioceses

If nevertheless one million people came to Rome on June 20  to protest against the introduction of gender ideology, then it was no thanks to support from the dioceses. Compared with the support there were  significantly more dioceses and pastors who hastened to distance themselves from the Family Day.
Many Catholic circles ignore the gender issue, because they are afraid that the controversial issue could divide. Similar things have already happened in Catholic dioceses and organizations  with discussions such as abortion and divorce. On the gender issue, however, there is astonishingly "a willingness not to recognize the scale of the problem, minimize it or deny it completely," said the Nuova Bussola Quotidiana (NBQ) whose co-editor is Archbishop Luigi Negri of Ferrara.Archbishop Negri supported,  like no other diocesan Bishop, the Italian version of Manif pour tous.
Many Catholics seem so empty inside and trapped in bourgeois conventions that they shy away from any public struggle for one's own faith. "If a parent or teacher would but rouse himself and express concerns, they say that this is an exaggeration. When citizens go to the streets against the introduction of gender ideology, they say that this is disrespectful," said NBQ.

Circular of the Diocese of Padua to all parishes

In the school office of the Diocese of Padua one seems to consider  gender theory even as an invention. This past August 18, it sent a corresponding Circular. This was triggered by information evenings against the gender ideology, organized in some parishes of the diocese. Worried parents had also turned for information and assistance on gender ideology to the diocese.
In circulars the diocesan Office of Education informed all the parishes of the diocese on three points:
  1. The gender theory is not an ideology. Under the heading of "gender" rather, it should be understood as a number of very different theories. These gender theories are not a real enemy to combat, but an interlocutor with which  to lead a dialogue and to distinguish how to be correctly informed and properly directed according to the logic of Christ.
  2. Article 1, paragraph 16 of the new Education Act, which was introduced by the government of the Left Democrat, Matteo Renzi and against which a million people protested in June have nothing to do with the gender issue. It is therefore only a  pretext to give reasons for refusing the law and to collect signatures for its abolition, as several Catholic organizations have  currently done.
  3. Education Minister Stefania Giannini had sent circulars of which the parents may be reassured.  For this reason, there is a warning to all parishes, to avoid  indulging in events and initiatives on  the gender issue without having previously informed the bishop about it. Should educational issues be addressed (what else?), then the diocesan Office of Education is also to be informed.

A stab in the back  - what the Diocese does not want to admit

"After this communication, hardly a pastor  dares to conduct an event in his parish, where voices  critical of gender theory have their say,"  said Nuova Bussola Quotidiana (NBQ). Catholics from the Diocese of Padua, who participated in the "Hands off  our children" rally, must now think they have done something wrong. Even for "standing guard" (Sentinelle in Piedi) it was like a stab in  the back communication from the diocese. "They will be disappointed, because the only prompt is as follows: dialog," said NBQ.
Pope Benedict XVI. and Pope Francis warned of gender theory, school boards of other dioceses have released their own documents about the dangers of this ideology. Since the World Population Conference in Cairo in 1994, the gender theory is advanced by the international organizations of the United Nations and financed by major American foundations. Now it is to be coupled to the post-2015 Millennium Development Goals, effectively assimilated to human rights. The European Union and most European governments have published guidelines and explanations. There are newly established publishing houses which publish mostly only books about gender with public money.  The public libraries, kindergarten and school libraries are inundated with such gender publications. But for the diocese of Padua, it's all just fiction?

Aberrosexual associations operate aberrosexualization at schools

The circulars of the Minister of Education were not worth the paper on which they are written, says NBQ. Apart from the fact that most relate to rules before the new Education Act, numerous education officials, school principals and teachers have collaborated with the conventions of gay organizations.  These gay organizations have access to the schools and can often, with melodious and obfuscating names,  romp for the children there under the guise of "training programs."  Officially  "soft skills", "tolerance", "diversity" or "enlightenment" are conveyed. In reality, the natural order of man and woman, the family, of parents and children, the shame and one's own identity are to be destroyed, who  force   boys to dress up as a girls, using coercion, to have to use  the restrooms of the opposite sex,  the showing  of specially produced aberrosexual movies in kindergarten and primary schools, the doctrine that "all love" and all forms of sexual pleasure are "ok" and that they must be satisfied, should avoid one from becoming  mentally  ill mentally by "repression." .
In most cases this  early sexualization is done without the parents consent. Not only because many parents, equate the schools of today with the schools of their schooling, but because many intentionally  conceal this from the parents, says NBQ.

Archbishop Negri: Dialog May Not Be an "Unconditional Capitulation" and Not "Empty Talk"

The Letter "N for Nazarene is Used by the Islamists to
Brand Christians
(Rome) Already for several days a large banner has been hanging in the middle of the northern Italian city of Ferrara,  with the Arabic letter N for Nazarene. With this symbol, the Islamists in northern Iraq label the homes of Christians who are who are to be driven out.  The banner with the prominent announcement on the fate of persecuted Christians in the Middle East hangs on the main square of the city on the facade of the Archbishop's Palace. The reason for the display is the contentious Archbishop of Ferrara, Msgr. Luigi Negri, one of the most prominent Catholic bishops in Europe.  From August 15, the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary into heaven, the Italian Bishops' Conference had declared a day of prayer for the persecuted Christians of the Middle East.
On August 14, Archbishop Negri published on the Solemnity of the Assumption a pastoral letter to the persecuted Christians. Here are some excerpts:
"The  meaning of this brand is that it represents the first letter of the word Nassarah (Nazarene), the word with which the Quran refers to the disciples of Jesus of Nazareth - that is imposed by the militias of the self-proclaimed Caliph al-Baghdadi on infidel Christians, for the there is no place in the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, except to convert to Islam, who are subject to a head tax, and suffer the destruction of their ancient places of worship and the confiscation of their goods - want to express publicly that the Archdiocese of Ferrara- Comacchio feels as  one  with our brothers and sisters who bear the wounds of the suffering and death of our Lord on their bodies and in their souls.
Archbishop Luigi Negri of Ferrara: "No dialogue at all costs"
"While we prepare for the Day of Prayer (August 15),for the coming of peace  - or better it could be said that the Lord Jesus Christ will perform a miracle for it,  that humanly speaking is not the least hope  - I want that  the entire diocese would perceive, what Pope Francis has repeatedly asked that it is not just the "saying" of a prayer, but a prayer with the wholeness of life and of the heart. That it is mainly a plea for forgiveness from Him, because our lives as Western Christians shares guilt as a co-responsibility for what is  happening.
This responsibility comes with a naivete expressed, that is to say the least, pathologically. One must speak of dialogue, sure, but you should and can do so only if one is aware of the identity and the complexity of the conversation partner. There can not be in any case  a dialogue at all costs and it can not mean a withdrawal of Christians from the Middle East completely.
It would be our desire to be there with them, to strengthen the numerical presence of Christians in the places where the Church and Christians have been present for two thousand years and to be prosecuted with them. Let us ask the Lord that He makes us able to build an intelligent dialogue, to guide and not an unconditional surrender. And we ask the Lord also that He grants us to stop not only the flight of thousands and thousands of our brothers and sisters whose guilt is only to be Christians like the first martyrs, but as far as possible, to strengthen their presence there, as they can not be valued differently than as a fundamental contribution to the common good of all mankind. This is the authentic way to pray for the peace that is a gift of the Risen Christ, 'Peace be with you '. Everything else is just empty talk. The Church needs no empty talk and, as far as I know, even God does not need it. Benedict XVI: "When There is No Struggle, There is no Christendom"

(Ferrara) on the anniversary of his renunciation the newspaper La Voce di Romagna in Rimini  announced on 10 February  a visit to Benedict XVI. On 5 February   "the great Ratzinger", as the newspaper said,  received two long-time personal friends: the fighting Archbishop Monsignor Luigi Negri of Ferrara and Professor Marco Ferrini.  Archbishop Negri is President and Professor Ferrini is Director General of the International John Paul II Foundation for the Social Doctrine of the Church .
"Benedict XVI. received us in the Vatican in the monastery Mater Ecclesia.  We spent 40 minutes together. We found him very alert and present  for his 87 years, " said Marco Ferrini.
About the interview, he said: "We told him that we have regained, thanks to the Magisterium of John Paul II and his continuity between faith and culture,  with the social and political commitment, certainly with some concern because there is a return to some sort of dualism in a part Church, which wants to lead the Church into a position of self-exclusion. Benedict XVI. told us then:  "All dualism in Christianity is negative." He spoke to us of the difficult conditions under which the Church is today and always, suffering more virulent attacks from the world.  And he said that the  Church has always fought and will always fight.  The hostility of the world is one of its essential characteristics, such as the Lord had promised. ,Benedict XVI. said  to us, 'If there is no struggle, there is no Christianity.' "
The newspaper said that Ferrini was as stirred as Archbishop Negri to be able to see Benedict XVI.  again and how impressed they were "about his unbroken spiritual depth and his great gentleness."

Archbishop Negri: Laws Against Homophobia Recall Fascism

(Rome) Archbishop Luigi Negri of Ferrara warns of the proposed law against homophobia. The bill recalls fascism and the "dark times of state ideology." In all European countries there are attempts to limit religious and free speech rights on behalf of alleged "protection" of and "discrimination" against homosexuals [aberrosexuals]. There is no broad discussion of the introduction of the new law. All are apathetic. The Christians must defend themselves and take up the fight for freedom of expression and freedom of religion, otherwise there may be sudden and bad awakening. The negative consequences are already visible in the UK and France. "The priests and bishops, who quote St. Paul in Holy Mass, could be charged," Archbishop Negri told the weekly magazine Tempi.

"In defending a certain lifestyle and its supporters, but especially those who theoretically confess homosexuality and practice it in society, the state discriminates in a serious and irreparable manner against other opinions and lifestyles," said the Archbishop, as Pope Benedict XVI. had personally called upon the 2012 Synod of Bishops.

Ideological Law

The law against homophobia, for which there is no objective necessity and that will soon be discussed by Parliament, will introduce, after "70 years since end of fascism a thought crime, and awakes dark, long subdued and times always believed to be over, back to life. Times in which the State identified ideological positions which it forcibly introduced and sacrificed all opinons which did not quite match."

"Our nation is at risk of losing those basic freedoms of speech, freedom of choice, freedom of choice and freedom that form the core of the secular state," said Archbishop Negri.

Priest Persecution

"Whoever will continue to draw attention to the great heterosexual tradition of the West, which can be found in the Magisterium of the Catholic Church and in the practice of the Christian life through so many centuries, a great and informative powerful testimony, is in danger of being persecuted, if he expresses his beliefs publicly," said the Archbishop. "The priests and the bishops who quote excerpts from Paul's Epistles during the public liturgical celebrations, which relate to the moral standards on gay [aberrosexual] positions, or recite from the Catechism of the Catholic Church or quote parts of the Church's social doctrine, could be brought to the authorities," warned Archbishop Negri.

Defend Freedom

Christianity, says Negri, should not forget what Pope John Paul II asked in the encyclical Centesimus Annus: always to defend freedom. Because "every time we strive to secure our freedom, we defend the freedom of all, and every time we lose our freedom or it is limited, it is lost or restricted for all," said Negri.

"Over the past three years, more than 100,000 Christians have been killed because of disregard for the freedom of conscience, and in almost all countries of the world. Is it possible that the 'defense of homosexuality' is in comparison, more important than this specific problem and more important than the freedom of conscience?" said Luigi Negri, the Archbishop of Ferrara-Comacchio.

Archbishop Luigi Negri, Appointed by Pope as Tradition Friendly of Ferrara

(Vatican)  Msgr Luigi Negri (71) is one of the most striking Italian Bishops was named by Pope Benedict XVI as the new Archbishop of Ferrara.  The Pope is very close to the Bishop.  His profession as Bishop of San Marino and Montefeltro was one of the last official acts of Pope John Paul II.   A much greater connection to the combative Bishop is shown by Pope Benedict XVI.  In the last year the head of the Church visited the small Diocese, which also includes the resting place of Saint Marino, in a pastoral visit. A particular sign  of approval is Msgr. Negri's holds a disposition of an unabbreviated message and the necessity of a confident Church.  For this reason Pope Benedict appointed him, about which the Italian Bishops' Conference did nothing, because of this personally in the Bishops'  Synod in October in Rome.   Then followed his elevation to Archbishop.

Hertofore Bishop of San Marino, now Archbishop of Ferrara.

Archbishop Negri was born in 1941 in Milan.  There he visited the  Gymnasium for the Humanities,  where he met Don Luigi Giussiani and entered this student movement.  From 1965 to 1967 he was the first president in the Archdiocese of Milan. Msgr Negri graduated from the Catholic University of Milan and was then the assistant of the renowned neo-Thomist Professor Gustavo Bontadini in the Seminary and was ordained in June of 1972 by the former  Archbishop of Milan, Gioanni Cardinal Colombo.

Neo-Thomist, Student of Catholic Social Teacher, Promoter of the Old Rite

In the society of Communion and Liberation of Don Giussiani Msgr. Negri was responsible above all for the area of school and formation.  His special point of attention lay in what was then the Catholic Social Teaching.  At the Catholic University of Milan he taught History, Philosophy and Introduction to Theology.  He is the author of numerous specialist works above all about the magisterium of Pope John Paul II.  Since 2010 he has been a collaborator of the Catholic internet publication La Bussola Quotidiana (The Daily Compass) and president of the Fondazione International Gioanni Paolo II per il Magistero Sociale della Chiesa (International Foundation of John Paul II for the Social Teaching of the Church), whose honorery committee includes Professor Nikolaos Lokowicz and Paul Josef Cardinal Cordes from the German speaking areas, and till his death, the [Emperor] Otto Habsburg.  The scientific committee includes  numerous others like Bologna's Archbishop Carlo Cardinal Cafarra, the Secretary of the Pope, Msgr George Ganswein, Karl Habsburg, Professor Waldsstein, malcom Cardinal Ranjith and the biographer of John Paul II., George Weigel.

Prominent, Militant Representative of the Catholic Subject

The Episcopal consecration received by Msgr. Negri by Dionigi Cardinal Tettamanzi, the former Archbishop of Milan.  He follows now for a second time his predecessor Msgr. Rabitti, who was Bishop of San Marino from 1995 to 2004 and then became Archbishop of Ferrara in 2012.
suffagrens
The chief shepherd of Ferrara bears the title of Archbishop, the Diocese is yet a small metropolitan district, and thus has no suffragren.  This particularity goes back to the time of the Church State.  Ferrara belonged in late antiquity to the Byzantine Exarchate of Ravenna and was added to the Kingdom of the Lombards in 774.  From 1589 to 1859 it answered directly to the Papal Legation of the Church State.
